The motto of Symbiosis is "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" - The world is one family.
Symbiosis today comprises of 37 institutes imparting training in diverse disciplines. It has over 45,000 students who hail from all states of India and from 60 different countries. In 2002, the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India conferred on Symbiosis, the status of Deemed to be University . Dr. Mujumdar now intends to strive towards converting Symbiosis University into an International University and also set up a Vishwa Gram, a Global Village on its university campus - where foreign and Indian students can live together in hostels, learn together in classrooms, play together on sports fields and eat together in cafeterias.
Chancellor’s Message:
Fond greetings from Symbiosis! Established in 1971, primarily to promote and foster world understanding by bringing together Indian and foreign students through education, Symbiosis believes in the ancient Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - the world is one family, Excellence and autonomy. That is what we are all about. We believe in education that is based on knowledge and utility. Symbiosis Institutes take all pains to update their course content on a regular basis, increase the practical components of their professional training, and come as close to industry standards and requirements as possible. Media education has emerged remarkably in this country in the last fifteen years. From mere classroom lectures on history and laws of press and a few tips on reporting and editing, it has evolved into a vast domain of education covering print, television, radio, video, cinema, animation, graphics, advertising and public relations. It is now more practice-oriented, performance-based, perception governed and interactive. Here in lies the pleasure of training in media education. It is interactive and production-oriented. Performance is the key here. I take this opportunity to cordially invite you to the Symbiosis family for an intensive training and grooming for media careers. May God bless you!
Dr S B Mujumdar
